Burley flueless gas fires

Conventionally flued fires lose the majority of their heat up the chimney. Burley flueless gas fires operate without a flue or chimney. This means that the gas is used to heat your room and not the environment. Burley flueless gas fires are 100% efficient and can significantly reduce your fuel bill.

Range

The Burley range include traditional models and the latest contemporary hole in the wall or wall mounted gas fires. Burley gas fires have an extensive range to suit all tastes.

Features

A Burley flueless gas fire certainly built to last. All castings on the gas fire are solid brass or aluminium. Burley do not use plastic mouldings or inferior components.

Air movement

Flueless fires convect heat throughout the entire house. An air vent regulates air into the room which is being heated. This heated air slowly dissipates away from the fire and circulates around the whole house. Compared to a chimney or flued fire which draws a huge amount of air from around your house. This is warm air which is replaced by cold air leaking in through your windows and doors.

Catalytic converters

All of the Burley flueless gas fires incorporate a catalytic converter. This is a honeycomb configuration which is coated with rare metals. Oxygen ‘sticks’ to the special coating. When a carbon monoxide molecule meets it, the oxygen will convert the carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide (which is harmless and present in fresh air). All Burley appliances are CE marked. One of the strict tests that the fires must pass is to have the catalytic converter removed. With the catalytic converter removed it must still pass all the strict combustion tests.

Convenience

A flueless gas fire can be fitted very quickly rather than several hours. It is an extremely easy and problem free operation for the Gas Safe registered engineer . If fitting to an open chimney the flue must be blocked. The fire just needs connecting and testing, and finally the air vent fitting. When fitting a flueless gas fire, it does not need to be sealed to the fireplace opening.

Burley Flueless gas fires do not have to be installed on an outside wall. No flue is required. Thousands of pounds can easily be saved by not having to build a new chimney or restoring a condemned one. The annual servicing for a flueless gas fire simply consists of cleaning the fire, checking the combustion, and generally checking for damaged components.

No problems with chimneys

Chimneys and flues experience potential problems, all of which will stop a flued fire from operating in a safe manner.

1. The fabric of the chimney can sometimes collapse.
2. Debris could block the flue.
3. Atmospheric conditions or having doors open can create a down draught.
4. Extractor fans can create draughts which reverse the pull of a chimney, this causes it to spill the products of combustion into the room (this makes Burley flueless gas fires very popular and safe for use in pubs and restaurants).

Burley flueless gas fires do not suffer from any of these problems.
