Central Heating - Types of system

Combination boilers - More Information here

For hot water on demand 'Combi' boilers are great and very economical to run. There is no need for an external hot water tank. With this type of boiler you'll never have to wait for hot water. This type of boiler is very popular especially where it is not possible to have a water storage tank.

You live in a flat or small house without
many bathrooms, or need more space.

You want a loft convertion and need to get
rid of your water storage tank.

You need instant hot water and drinkable
water from every cold tap in your property.

System boilers - More Information here

A system (or pressurised sealed system) boiler incorporates a hot water storage cylinder (sealed) which is usually installed in an airing cupboard. You do not need an expansion tank in the roof as the combination of boiler and cylinder means you can run mains pressure hot water from several outlets at the same time.

Your home has more than one bathroom.

Your hot water requirements can’t be met
by a combi.

You need to store hot water but want to
ensure the loft space is free and dry.

What do we recommend?

Regular boilers - More Information here

A heat only (or open vent) boiler is almost always connected to two tanks located in the loft and a hot water cylinder usually in the airing cupboard. An expansion tank supplies water to the boiler and radiators. A larger cold water storage tank provides the cold water feeding into a hot water cylinder.

Your property already has a heat only boiler
and you just want to replace it.

You need to run hot water from various
sources at the same time.

Your loft is large enough to house storage tanks.

Back Boilers - Do you have a back boiler that needs replacing?

A back boiler is a relatively small, compact boiler located at the back of an open fireplace. It is located behind a gas or electric fire (originally behind a gas fire) and provides all of your hot water and central heating to the property.

Despite it's size, a back boiler is more than capable of supplying all heating and hot water needs. Back boilers are very reliable, and homeowners can run hot water from several taps at once without a problem.

In addition to the back boiler itself, a back boiler installation consists of water tanks in the loft and a water cylinder in the airing cupboard. The back boiler is great on saving space as there is no need to find room for a wall-hung boiler.

If you currently have a back boiler installed in your property which needs replacing then we can help. Our new 'A' rated boilers are much more efficient and will save you money on your fuel bills.
